1956 Chevy Step Side and 1957 step side body - $6000 (Pocatello)

What do you get for this amazing deal?
1956 Chevy Step Side. This is the panoramic rear window cab with the full wrap window - very hard to find. This truck body is complete. There is minimal rust since it has been garage kept for nearly 20 years. The pictures at www.trucks.steadytide.com show you how nice the body is.
All the glass is in tact with no cracks with exception of the drivers door (for the '56). There is a replacement glass for it. The window rubber has cracked with age but is holding fine for now. The original seat is still in the truck, but there is a 60/40 split bench with electric adjustment from a mid '80's Old's that can go in.
The chassis is rolling with an independent front suspension from the 1975 Dodge Aspen/Chrysler Volare. This one piece solid cross member suspension preserves the original frame, unlike the Camero/Firebird front clip swap. The cross member has power steering, independent suspension, and a solid base to mount the engine. To keep the authentic look of the truck, the original steering column has been mated to the power steering. You get the look of the classic with the ease of modern technology.
The rear suspension is a custom built trailing arm. 2"x2" steal tubing was integrated into the front leaf spring hanger and then custom spring over shock mounts hold a mid '70's Firebird 3.37 ratio axle in place for a lowered smooth ride.
The bed is very straight as is the tailgate. The wooden bed floor was long rotted when I first purchased this truck in 1989. There are two drivers side fenders for the bed. One with the spare tire cutout, and one without.
This truck has no engine but I have a Chevy 400 SB and the original truck 4 speed (granny low first). I also have two Saginaw 3 speeds. These are all included in the price.
As if that alone were not worth the asking price, I am offering for a full amount offer a 1956 frame and bed trailer. This could easily be mated to the front suspension clip from the included mid "70's Firebird to make a full rolling chassis for the 1957 GMC panoramic rear window cab and full body that is included at this price. With just a little bit of frame work you will have two complete truck on rolling chassis ready for your personalized finishing touches. This is an amazing deal for everything that is included.
Why am I selling it? Great question. I bought the 1956 in '89 and I drove it for about 6 years. I thought it would be wonderful to fix it to show quality and spend my time traveling with it and showing it. That is when it hit the garage, and that is where it stayed. In the time that has past, these trucks have just become more rare and more desired. They are continually featured in Trucking, and Hot Rod. College, career, Masters, and family have kept me from the truck and I have eventually fallen out of love with the project, like any neglected relationship. When I venture to the garage, I now look at it with regret and no desire or interest to rekindle what once was there.
So, for just $6,000 I am offering someone the opportunity to create a nice profit if you decide to sell, or to enjoy two beautiful classic trucks.
To see the trucks, go to www.trucks.steadytide.com. You can even pay for it right there with a credit card (small additional fee added). When you are ready to take these trucks to your shop, they are ready to go. Bring a trailer or we can discuss delivery. Even though the '56 was what my wife and I courted in, I am excited to see it go to another eager enthusiast. Lets get together soon. Summer is just around the corner. What a great way to finish out winter.
